Movie Review : The Dark Knight (2008)

The Dark Knightis set about a year after Batman Begins and the audience is faced with some nice changes in the movie. The movie told a story of Bruce Wayne who are trying to deal with a new villain, The Joker. The villain that already hinted at the end of Batman Begins. The Joker caused some serious damage in Gotham City because he controlled the mob lords. Good thing, Batman got a help from the new DA, Harvey Dent and Comissioner Gordon.

The Dark Knight adalah sebuah crime-drama terbaik yang pernah saya lihat. Konsep yang fresh dan lebih menggangkan daripada crime-drama sebelumnya membuat film ini memberikan sebuah kesan spesial bagi pecinta comic book movie. Non-stop action, great drama, great crime-scene and amazing acting make this film is one of the best comic book movie ever made.

Film dibuka dengan beberapa badut yang merampok sebuah bank. Anehnya, setiap badut yang telah menyelesaikan tugasnya, badut yang lain membunuhnya sehingga hanya tersisa satu badut saja. Surprisingly, the last clown that is standing is THE JOKER! Opening ini menunjukkan bagaimana Joker beroperasi yaitu bahwa walaupun Joker memiliki anak buah, dia bekerja sendiri. 

Mari bicara masalah akting :

Yang pertama tentulah The Batman itu sendiri, Christian Bale, yang memang merupakan the best Bruce Wayne/Batman ever put on the big screen, kembali bersinar di sini. Wah ini aktor ganteng dan bertalent banget deh. Jadi tidak bosan melihatnya. Ketika Rachel diledakkan oleh Joker, kita merasa kesedihan yang dirasakan oleh Bruce. Tak ketinggalan Batmannya yang menakutkan, no wonder the criminals fear him so much. Suara Batman apaling bagus menurutku memang di Batman Begins walau di The Dark Knight Rises juga bagus (let’s talk about it in my review of TDKR)

Kalau diperhatikan, The Batman memiliki kostum baru di sini yang berbeda dengan kostumnya di Batman Begin. Ya, hal ini bagus dan membuat The Batman bisa menggerakkan lehernya... Ada juga perangkat hebat yaitu BatPod. Wow, a heavy machine in a form of motorcycle thing. Wuih... keren banget deh. Pengen punya satu (*_*)

Heath Ledger as The Joker merupakan the best part in this film. He’s completely AWESOME! In my opinion, he’s better than Joker in Batman 89. Why? Because not only he’s really more realistic but Ledger’s Joker also doesn’t fear death. Jack’Joker cried like a girl when Batman let throw him off the building (I think), but Ledger’s Joker laughs when Batman does that. He controls the mob, blows up a hospital, challage Batman’s moral, everything...

Ledger’s Joker adalah agen of chaos yang tidak peduli dengan apapun yang terjadi karena dia selalu memiliki back-up plan. Joker menganggap Gotham adalah tempat bermainnya dan Batman adalah partnernya bersenang-senang. Joker is one of those men who want to watch the wold burn menurut Alfred dan itu benar 100%.

Adegan favorite saya di seluruh film adalah Interogation scene. Wah benar-benar menegangkan. Joker yang suka main-main, tertawa mengerikan VS The Batman yang tenar dan collected di depannya. Perkataan Joker yang berupa "When the chips are down... these civilize people, they'll eat each other" merupakan sesuatu yang wajib diingat oleh pecinta Batman karena perkataan ini terbukti di The Dark Knight Rises. Adegan dua kapal pun cukup menegangkan, apalagi ditambah pertarungan mental Joker dan Batman di gedung Prewitt atau apalah nama gedung tertingggi ke tujuh di dunia itu.

Aaron Echart as Harvey Dent is great. Aaron Eckhart is a good actor. He starred in bad movies too, like love happens, but his acting is good. It’s just the movie which is bad. Aaron membuat karakter Dent sangat berkarisma. Ketika dia berubah menjadi Two-Face, wow, amazing effect. Saya cukup ngeri dengan separuh wajahnya. Banyak spekulasi bahwa Two Face masih hidup, tapi Nolan sudah bilang kalau Dent itu mati. Saya punya naskahnya dan ya memang Two-Face mati dengan broken neck.  

Yang paling menarik di sini adalah Harvey berubah dari seseorang yang berperang melawan kebaikan menjadi benar-benar berbuat sesuatu yang jahat di sebuah scene di film. Scene yang saya maksud adalah ketika dia ingin membunuh putra Gordon. Mob and corrupt cop are another thing, but this is just a kid. Sesuatu yang terlihat benar-benar tidak manusiawi dan kejam.

Maggie Jullenhall as Rachel Daws, a re-cast. Sebenarnya saya cukup lega dengan penampilan Maggie di sini karena dia dapat menghidupkan karakter Rachel lebih believable daripada Katie Holmes. Dia terlihat older, stronger and smarter. Coba bayangkan kata-kata Maggie di The Dark Knight diucapkan oleh Katie... It doesn’t work at all. Maggie membuat kita lebih care terhadap Rachel sehingga ketika dia diledakkan Joker, kita sedikit merasa kehilangan.

Michael Caine as Alfred, Mogan Freeman as Lucius Fox and Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon... Should I really talk about them? They are legend. There’s no need to talk about their acting ebcause they always good. Let’s not talk too much about their acting because you do know the answer. Mungkin saya juga tidak harus membicarakan Christian Bale ya? Just like them, he’s always awesome but well He’s The Batman... I always want to talk about him.

Okay, so the conclusion is The Dark Knight is the best comic book movie ever made so far (The Dark Knight Rises follows closely behind) and of course this movie is awesome and perfect in everything. Perfect cast, perfect acting, perfect directing, perfect story telling, perfect special effect, perfect score, perfect action, everything
