My PPG Journey : A Road to Earn a " Professional Teacher" Title (Part 2)

Hello, This is my PPG Journey Part 2. In this part, I will tell you about my dorm life. The life in a dorm is very different which will be such a shock for those who never ever live in a dorm before. I have an experience living in a dorm. I lived in an Islamic dorm for about two weeks when I was still secondary school. It was a holiday, so we had no school for two weeks. I enlisted myself to join a two-week program in a local Islamic dorm. There, along with my two friends, we lived with many older students. I am someone who follows rules. Not exactly always, but it is like 90% of 100% of my life. It doesn't mean that I am a strict person or something. I think that as long as that rules are intended to make us be a better person, then why not? But everyone doesn't have the same thought.

During my PPG program, we were required to live in a dorm for a year. During our study, there were many dorm activities which included a stupid rule like signing everytime we pray. I definitely thought/think it is very ridiculous, and great activities like several lectures I really enjoy such as public speaking, dance, Islamic lectures, scout, etc.

These activities are compulsory because of the score each activity had. The scores were different; the score for Fajr praying was different with the attendance or the activities. Scores were given every day after all activities were done. Therefore, you could not cheat.

Let's talk about the activities. I will only share interesting activities, which means I will not share about the praying activity or the boring ones. Only interesting ones.

First activity that I want to share is the morning exercise. This is the activity I love the most because it gave me a chance to move my body. I am not exactly a fan of sports. I prefer to read a book or just browsing the internet in front of my laptop which of course resulted in my low stamina. This compulsory activity forced me to move my body which gave me a real benefit to survive the harsh life of PPG. NO, I am joking. It helped me a lot when PPL (Teaching Practice) approached.

The second activity is Leadership Training. I have done a similar training when I was in university but I didn't mind re-learning this again. There was new knowledge about how high we set our bar when we had a dream to reach.

Third is Health Class (Drugs and Infirmary). Health Class is an average class where you had to learn about STD, Drugs, illness, etc. However, there was an activity where we should pretend that we were teachers who gave a lesson to the students. Therefore, a sudden drama class was created during this class. My group consisted of Young Learners Teachers, therefore I got much new knowledge about how to deliver a health class for young kids which was quite useful for me for the future.

Well, those are the activities that I like the most among many dorm activities. I hope you all who have to live in a dorm because of PPG or other education training will prepare for its strict lifestyle. However, if you just enjoy the moment, learn everything you can, then you'll be fine. Don't be afraid to do it and be a better person.
