Prisoner of Beauty (2025)

The main reason why I gave this drama a chance was because of Xuan Lu, one of my favourite actresses.
This drama is a surprise for me because of what I have heard from the novel. I mean, the novel wasn't bad, but there are several things that I dislike. However, some fans convinced me that the drama was actually good and different from the novel. So I gave it a chance.
I love it very much. This is my favourite Chinese Drama 2025 so far.
I'm a new fan of Liu Yu Ning now. I have seen him in Journey to Love, and I love how suitable he is for costume dramas, especially when he played a soldier. Personally, I prefer him in warrior attire/style, instead of flowing noble robes. I mean, his look as a guest role in Wonderland of Love isn't bad, but it wasn't my style.
The plot is good, even though the last few episodes are too rushed in my opinion, but overall, it is a really good drama. The chemistry between the main couple is very good and believable. I love how what gets him to like her is her intelligence. Even the romance of the side couples is very good. What I mean is the romance between the general and the maid. Then, the childhood friend and the sick leader were kind of good before he died.
The humour is nice too and mostly provided by Wei generals and advisors. Their friendship is truly one of a kind. It is so sad that one of them had to die.
The biggest surprise and pleasure for me is, of course, Xuan Lu's amazing performance in this. Xuan Lu is a very good actress and always steals her scenes when she plays a supporting character. I'm so waiting for her to finally land a good main role and this is amazing. I don't know if she is considered a main role, though, because she appeared in later episodes, but she is listed as the main. She shows her range here. I think this is her best role to date after Kill My Sins and The Untamed. I hope she finally gets much better scripts in the future after this.
This drama is good for those who love slow, but not-too-slow romance but with enough action at the beginning and end.
Rose and Gun (2025)
Score: B-
This is so disappointing. I have to say that. Sorry, Xuan Lu. I love you very much and you're good at this. Your chemistry with Jin Han is also very good. However, the plot is too weak.
So weak, I would drop it if Xuan Lu weren't the main lead.
For a romance story between a journalist and a Navy soldier with a corrupt company which exploits precious items, nothing is exciting.
There are three good things in this drama and the plot isn't one of them. They are the main couple, Tan Xing's parents (I love their relationship so much), and Wu Si's friends.
No drama, no intense mission, nothing. Cute, yes, but empty.
Threading Mom's Wings (2025)
Score: B+
This is a B-short drama with 10 minutes per episode, so don't expect anything extraordinary with this one. There is no serious drama and some stupid plots, but it is entertaining. The chemistry between the main couple is good, but the mother-daughter relationship is charming.
Xuan Lu is so pretty here, and I love her relationship with the child actress. I have to say that the child actress is very good and we will definitely see her more in the future because she's just so pretty and cute.
There are two main supposedly intense plots in this drama. One is the kidnapping of the daughter, and the second, the real identity of Xuan Lu's character. She is actually a rich girl.
The ending is what I like. It isn't cliché in my opinion.
